Author and Adventurer, Loreen Niewenhuis, has been inspiring people to have their own adventures since she walked all the way around Lake Michigan. In her presentation, she weaves stories from her journey with fascinating information about the Great Lakes. Drawing on her science background (she has a Master of Science from Wayne State University), Loreen explores the formation and geology of these vast inland seas, the threat of invasive species and pollution to our lakes, and much more. She has spoken at many types of venues including museums, schools, libraries, private clubs, outdoor outfitter stores, and conferences. Saturday, March 31: Lecture with photos at the Grand Rapids Public Library, Grand Rapids, MI 1PM [link]

Loreen will give a presentation with photos at the seventh annual “One Book, One County” event staged by eight public libraries in St. Joseph County. Thursday, May 10, 6:30pm at the Sturgis Young Auditorium and Civic Center, Sturgis, Michigan.

In 2012, Loreen will undertake another 1000-mile hike, one that allows her to touch all FIVE Great Lakes. She will be available for new speaking engagements after November 2012.
